Sillaro was founded in 1969, following the economic boom at the time. The idea of producing drums for detergents was born: the first production of drums began in the now historic plant at Borghetto Lodigiano. The exponential growth in the 1970s resulted in the construction of the new and larger plant in Livraga.
In 1977 the new production complex in the Industrial Zone of Livraga employed around 50 workers over several shifts, while another 20 continued production at the Borghetto Lodigiano plant.
At the beginning of the 1980s, the idea of producing the same machines that had made the drums for years was born: Reno Contenitori (BO) was founded, a company boasting worldwide exports. The 1980s saw the emergence of new plastic containers. This element, associated with the need for savings of detergent manufacturers, led Sillaro to a change in production strategy.
The production of kraft fibre drums was first introduced followed by installation of the cutter for the cutting of printing cardboard for graphic and paper industry use. The company downsized but continued on the 2 new markets entered, establishing itself as one of the leading companies in both sectors.
The Scotti family took over ownership of the company, relaunching the business, focusing on the production of cardboard drums and tubes and on the handling of boxes for detergent powders.
Sillaro moved to the new plant in San Colombano al Lambro (MI), invested in new production lines and equipment and expanded the workforce.
